Off for less than 30 seconds

If the power is only off for a short period of time, less than 30 seconds, the fire will still be alight.

  1. Grill Lid: Leave the grill lid closed
  2. Turn On: Turn the grill controller back to Shutdown then to Smoke
  3. Smoke & Fire: Watch the grill for a few minutes to make sure the fire is still running, indicated by the temperature rising back up again and hearing the roaring sound of the fire.
  4. Temperature Spike: If the grill was operating at a low temperature setting (121ºC or below), there might be a temperature spike after turning the grill back on due to additional pellets delivered into the fire-pot.

Off for more than 30 seconds

If the power is off for a long period of time, more than 30 seconds, the fire may have gone out. It is important to safely fire the grill back up by following the standard startup process.

  1. Open Lid: It is important to OPEN the grill lid, to allow air flow during startup.
  2. Turn On: Turn the grill controller back to Shutdown then to Smoke
  3. Smoke & Fire: A large cloud of smoke may or may not be released.
  4. Wait to hearing the roaring sound of the fire.
  5. Shut Lid: Shut the grill lid only once confirmed the fire is alight.
  6. Temperature Spike: If the grill was operating at a low temperature setting (121ºC or below), there might be a temperature spike after turning the grill back on due to additional pellets delivered into the fire-pot.

Still No Fire?

If there is no sign of fire after 2 to 3 minutes, turn the controller to Shutdown and wait for the fan to finish running for 10 minutes.

Once the grill has cooled down, remove the grill rack, grease tray and heat baffle then vacuum out the fire-pot. The grill can then be fired up as normal.

No Power?

If the power suddenly cuts out mid cook and not due to a house power issue or somebody accidentally turning the grill off, it could be due to a grill malfunction.
